The first ever GUE Tech 1 course to run in New Zealand has been finished, with thanks to Northland Dive who were great hosts. Congratulations to James and Andy who completed the course!

Tech Dive NZ is pleased to announce that Mel Jeavons has officially joined the instructional team. As a PADI Cavern Instructor, Mel will adds to our capability to teach overhead environment courses.

Our Northland cave exploration trip was very successful, with one new cave found in the Matai Bay area that has never been dived before.

Good things come to those that wait! We're pleased to announced that PADI have finally approved our Advanced Wreck Diver distinctive specialty course, so we've now put some dates in the calendar for the first course in November!

The Tech Dive NZ Calendar is now live, you'll shortly be able to see all of the events we have planned between now and the end of the summer which will let you work out which trips you want to come on and what courses are coming up that interest you. The calendar is colour coded, so you can straight away see what is a trip, a social event and so on.

Our first GUE Fundamentals course, taught in New Zealand by New Zealand's first GUE instructor has been completed, and was a great success. Congratulations to Mike, Tom and Rob who all passed the course with flying colours!

Hot on the heels of our decision to host a Tech 1 course in January, we've caught wind that there will be a GUE Cave 1 course at Nullarbor in South Australia in April 2010. If you are interested in this course you can find some details on the GUE website.

For wreck enthusiasts, the festivities leading up to the sinking of the Gen. Hoyt S. Vandenberg in Flordia have started. The Vandenberg is a 162m long warship that was commissioned in the 1940s. The current target sinking date is 27th May and adds a good wreck site to add on to the end of our Florida cave trip in November!
